View all threadsThis has been one terrific week for me ... one thing after another, all
good!
This afternoon I was helping a friend pull his boat out of the river and
his pickup truck got seriously stuck in loose gravel and would not move.
So he went home and got his competition "tractor pull" type of truck and
hitched it to the stuck truck. I asked him if he wanted me to drive the
stuck one but he said "Have a little fun" and I got to drive the
competition truck.
I have towed heavy boats before with my F-150, and always was careful to
give it the minimum of throttle so as to keep traction. This time, Rick
told me there's not going to be any traction and to try and dig her in til
she reached solid ground a foot or two down.
So I got in and stepped on it ... huge roar, tons of flying dirt, lot of
bouncing ... the truck dug down to solid ground and pulled both the stuck
truck and the heavy boat behind it out of the river.
