Total observation time: 9 hours

Official Counter:        Hugh Kent

Observers:        Liz Kent

Visitors:
Good to see John early morning armed with his mighty camera. Through out
the day we had a good stream of visitors, totalling over 40, with many
interested in the Hawk Watch and what can be seen on the marsh.

Weather:
It was hot on the tower today with thin cloud cover up to 60% and light
winds wind generally from the south, with the temperature starting at 24c
and reaching 34c mid afternoon.

Raptor Observations:
Quiet day with only 11 raptors observed.  Nice to see close views of an
American Kestrel and Northern Harrier.

Non-raptor Observations:
Pretty standard day with nothing exceptional. Large numbers of Tree
Swallows roosting in and hawking over the American Lotus in the marsh.
Numbers of Warblers has dropped right off with only 3 species seen. Good
numbers of Herons, egrets and cormorants on the marsh. Early migration of
Purple Martin quickly tailed off mid morning. The list can be viewed at
https://ebird.org/checklist/S118046339

Predictions:
Hopefully the weather will cool off a bit tomorrow and the wind is forecast
to be from the NE. There is a slight chance of rain increasing in the
afternoon. Maybe the northern aspect of the wind will bring more raptors
over the tower. We may see the start of the Sharp-shinned Hawk migration
and more American Kestrels.
