Hello Gators,As announced in the workout schedule sent out on Monday, TONIGHT we will be doing something called a "lactate threshold heart rate test" during our pool deck trainer session. This will include a 30 minute effort where you will exert as much effort as you can hold for the entire 30 minutes. 10 minutes into the 30 minutes you will use your watch to start to calculate your average heart rate during the final 20 minutes. This average will be used to calculate the bike heart rate zones that are often referenced during our workouts.
Following are the calculations that will be used to calculate your zones...Zone 1: Less than 81% of LTHRZone 2: 81% to 89% of LTHRZone 3: 90% to 93% of LTHRZone 4: 94% to 99% of LTHRZone 5a: 100% to 102% of LTHRZone 5b: 103% to 106% of LTHRZone 5c: More than 106% of LTHR
I'd like to get everyone's averages after the workout and I'll work with Danny to complete the calculations and enter them into Training Peaks for you.
At some point in the near future we will also do a test to calculate your run heart rate zones.
Let me know if you have any questions.
Otherwise, don't forget to bring your heart rate monitor with you to tonight's workout and make sure you know how to use it to calculate average heart rate for the final 20 minutes of our 30 minute effort (in most cases this will mean not starting to take the average until 10 minutes in).
See you there!
Don
