Listees,
While we were securing Smelling Roses yesterday in Coquina Harbor, Little
River, S.C., it was pointed out to me that the tall pillings holding the
floating dock facing the sea wall are largely eye wash. The bracket that
slides up the piling will be stopped many feet short of the top by the
overhanging boardwalk. At morning high tide yesterday I estimated we had
about 2.5 feet float left. I left the lines longer than I would have
otherwise. Coquina is about 4 1/2 miles up the river from Little River
Inlet and the surge was being predicted at 2 to 4 feet.
Having done our best, we drove back to the mountains of western North
Carolina. Does anyone on the list have any numbers on the surge last night?
