Hi everyone,

The 17th annual Linwood CBC was held December 29th. Temperatures ranged
from +2 to +6 degrees. Winds were SW, 30-35km/hr. No precipitation. Snow
cover was around 8cm.

A total of 34 count participants gave the count good coverage, with 51
species, slightly below the count's average of 53.3 species. The cumulative
species total now sits at 100.

Total number of individuals was above average, with 15,641 (ave. is 12,639).

New species:

Evening Grosbeak – 12 seen near Conestoga Lake; previously seen during
count week

Unusual species: Lapland Longspur (5th record)

High-counts: Common Raven – 29 (prev high 27), European Starling – 6,176
(prev high 5,794), American Robin – 18 (prev high 9)

Low-counts: American Black-Duck (2; prev. low of 7)

Notable misses: Common Goldeneye
