On July 12th and August 9th Citizens for a Healthy Bay will be leading an
invasive species removal at Yowkwala Beach restoration site from 9:30 to
3:30. Many non-native plants such as Pepperweed, Himalayan blackberry and
Scotch broom are inhibiting native species from becoming established at this
site. We will be tackling these and more to ready the site for planting in
the fall. CHB will provice lunch for those volunteers who work the full
day. Sturdy boots/shoes are recommended as well as clothing that you don't
mind getting dirty. Yowkwala is located next to Tyee Marina on Marine View
Dr. just before heading up the hill to Brown's Point. Turn into the marina,
buzz the gate and let them know you are working with CHB. Go to the very
end of the parking area and look for the CHB sign. Please RSVP if you plan
to attend by contacting Jeanine Riss at jriss@healthybay.org or
253-383-2429.
