Tacoma Urban Agriculture Panel Discussion

April 9th, 11:30AM-1:30PM (bring a sack lunch)

University of Washington Tacoma, YMCA Building, Rm 304

1241 S Court D St, Tacoma

Join us for a discussion about Urban Agriculture in Tacoma. This event is
hosted by the South Sound Chapter of Cascadia’s Green Building Council  as
part of the 2015 “Living Building Challenge” lecture series. The Living
Building Challenge (LBC) is an international movement focused on creating
buildings and communities which can sustain themselves, ourselves, and the
environment for generations to come. There are seven overarching themes,
called petals, which include Site, Energy, Water, Health, Materials,
Equity, Beauty. Each of the petals has a subset of focal points called
Imperatives.

On April 9th at 11:30 the South Sound Collaborative will host a panel
discussion of Imperative 02: Urban Agriculture. Many of Tacoma’s Urban Ag.
practitioners, professionals, and advocates will be joining us to share
how they are already strengthening our communities by growing urban food.
There will be time for questions and discussion about how we can move
forward together to create the healthy, local, resilient food systems after
our  speakers’ brief presentations.

Guest Speakers Include:

Harvest Pierce County Kristen McIvor

Hilltop Urban Gardens Dean Jackson

Swan Creek Park Food Forest  Kelda Lorax

Sustainable Roots Aliyah Simcoff

TREE Stephanie Cholmondeley

*The Event is co-sponsored by Cascadia Green Building Council, the NW
EcoBuilding Guild, and the UWT Sustainability Committee.
