We spent this past summer at Herrington Harbor North. It's sort of in the middle of the bay so you can cruise south to the Solomons , north to Annapolis and Baltimore, east to Oxford, St Michael's, Chestertown and Cambridge. You won't find a more beautiful and well maintained marina with all its service companies and a West Marine.

We plan to return next summer.

Next spring we are planning on exploring the Chesapeake bay for the summer.
Can anyone suggest a good cruising guide to study this winter? want to
visit a  lot of those places we missed on the loop.

thanks

See you on  the Waterways!

Get a Subscription to Chesapeake Bay magazine and then in October get the 2017 Waterway Guide!!!!
You are smart to plan as it is overwhelming the choices and diversity of the Bay!
We spent 41/2 months on the bay last summer. Did not see it all.
We spent close to a month at Yorkhaven Marina directly across from Yorktown!  You are within 15 miles of the first settlement at Jamestown , the Colonial Capitol of Williamsburg as well as the last battle ground at Yorktown!
I can go on for hours but if you want to see where we went go to Facebook and check out Theresa's blog:

May I suggest Shipwright Harbor on Tracy's Creek, just 60ft on the other
side of the creek from Herrington Harbor North (HHN) as an alternative.  It
has all of the amenities of HHN including a swimming pool, but at a lower
price.  You will have access to all of the maintenance personal at HHN, plus
all of the restaurants.  Good docks, good facilities, good neighbors (who
cruise), plus a 6 mos slip contract, and a good swimming pool.  We have been
there for 2 yrs, since completing the Loop in fall 2014 and love it.  Give
them a shout.

Don't ever miss Rock Hall and stay at North Point Marina, first marina on
the left as you pass the rock pile into the harbor. Best marina on the Bay.
Cleanest bathrooms in America, and tell them I said so !
