We've owned this boat for about 5 years and just finished our first
long (7 month) cruise, wintering over in the Florida Keys (cruising,
not hunkered down as a live-a-board). We plan on cruising to the
Bahamas this upcoming winter and upon return switching from sail to
power but most likely staying with the catamaran form. We're looking
at the Manta, PDQ 41 and different versions from Endeavour. Looking
for more ideas, avidly reading your web info.
I'm a retired USCG captain (28 years -- not 30 since ran out of
cutters to drive) and a USCG licenses master. After having run a
financial planning business for 10 years I'm fully retired now and
into full time cruising.
Our boat is Slow Dance and was home ported at Herrington Harbour
South (Chesapeake Bay) but now that we're cruisers we just use the
local facilities for on the hard maintenance before going off again.
Welcome aboard, Bob! It's nice to have someone with your range of
experience on the water join our discussions.
Please do keep us posted as you work through the many choices
available today in 40 feet or more. For starters, how about posting a
list of the features and characteristics that are important to you
and yours? When you have a minute.
