During the pre-purchase inspection on my 42’ Heritage East Trawler, the buyer’s surveyor said that the fuel injection pumps on both engines have never been updated and need to be, and the estimated cost of this is update $2600 per pump.
The engines are 1986 Perkins T6.354 S/N TU7014OU754446M and TU7014OU754448M. As far as I know the fuel injector pumps are original.
This is the first that I’ve heard of this pump update requirement. Anyone on this list familiar with this? Can these injector pumps leak fuel into the oil sump like the diaphragm fuel lift pumps can?

If it were me, I'd talk to a Perkins distributor. Most likely they won't be
able to say much unless you provide serial numbers of the engines. An
alternative might be to just have them rebuilt.
