Good day every one,
Thank you Tim,

Got in touch with Patrick Meyer
from Pacific Expedition Yachts.
They are building a a raised pilot house
version in a 44 x 16' beam;

Forms vs function: which criteria could i
select to choose between:
http://www.powercatsnz.com/public/index.cfm?fuseaction=app.showdesign&ID=192
or:
http://www.trawlercatmarine.com/designer.html
or a trimaran for that
matter?
Ideas?

Safe winds.

All
hands--

As some of you know, Bob Phillips, a list participant, is involved
in
the development of a small powercat in the BVI. An update on the
project has been posted at Power Catamaran World:
http://powercatamaran.typepad.com/homeport/2009/10/rogers-29-takes-shape-in-t
he-bvi.html

Bob tells me that "the second hull is out of the mold, first one
at
400 lb., second at 370, so on target for a boat less gear of less than
1500 and a full fuel and gear of 2700.  We expect to be assembled and
in the
water by the end of the month. As soon as we have pictures
we'll get a web
site up."

Best wishes, Bob!

Hi all,

This is a great blog and thanks for keeping it
up!  Sinclair, you might also
want to look at the Pacific Expedition 45
(www.pacificexpedition.com), it
looks like a great boat and my initial
information requests from the gents
there were quite positive.  I'm new to the
power cat scene but this boat
looks fantastic.

Sinclair,
this is pretty close
to your spec....http://mecat.com/power/powerspecs.htm
doesn't carry as much
fuel as your spec but with 5+ nmpg <9 knots
(http://mecat.com/power/powerspecs.htm),  you'll get the range, we'll see if
real world figues stack up, but that's measured data, not projections.
might
have to slow down when working in real seas.  Not a proven Nordy, but
their
sailboats have an excellent reputation for build quality.

looks like there is
a flybridge option, not sure if you spec'd smaller hp
diesels would help range
or not.  maybe a bit of weight savings could be
converted in increased fuel
carriage.  As some else suggested, with a water
maker you could carry less
water and more fuel.

We have a listee who is having a
boat built at Pacific Expedition.
Perhaps he could provide on update on the
Double-Wide project. He
should be getting mighty close to a launch.

    Mark,

Thank you
very much for your suggestion,
yes i visited their site and heard kind words
from an other listee who ordered
hull # 6.
Definately to keep in my folder as
their reputation of quality seems
well established.

This listee told me that
on its maiden "voyage" seas to a
trawler show she encountered rough seas and
behaved beyond the expectations of
teh builder so said his wife.
He also
mentionned the new Volvo engines which
production started in 2009 ans should
be ready to be dropped in the boat by
2010 which fits perfectly his schedule.
Have a great day,
Sinclair

Georgs,

Don't know how you
missed it, but we launched Double-Wide on June 22 and the
crew is now working
on finishing off the interior.  I have been a little out
of the process having
undergone open-heart surgery on July 1.  You can see
the launch photos at:
http://cid-981a4ebf7ab5aaca.skydrive.live.com/browse.aspx/2009%20Constructio
n/6%5E_09

Double-Wide is not exactly the same layout as the Pacific
Expedition Yachts,
but is quite similar.

I'm enjoying following your travels
which is likely how you missed my launch
email.

An update on the project has been posted at Power Catamaran World: http://powercatamaran.typepad.com/homeport/2009/10/rogers-29-takes-shape-in-t he-bvi.html Bob tells me that "the second hull is out of the mold, first one at 400 lb., second at 370, so on target for a boat less gear of less than 1500 and a full fuel and gear of 2700. We expect to be assembled and in the water by the end of the month. As soon as we have pictures we'll get a web site up." Best wishes, Bob! --Georgs Georgs Kolesnikovs Power Catamaran World http://www.powercatworld.com ------------------------------ Message: 2 Date: Fri, 2 Oct 2009 11:40:27 -0700 From: "Timothy Park" <tpark@transasusa.com> To: <power-catamaran@lists.samurai.com> Subject: [PCW] Passage maker power catamaran 42'/47' Message-ID: <00e401ca438f$cfb80b50$6f2821f0$@com> Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" Hi all, This is a great blog and thanks for keeping it up! Sinclair, you might also want to look at the Pacific Expedition 45 (www.pacificexpedition.com), it looks like a great boat and my initial information requests from the gents there were quite positive. I'm new to the power cat scene but this boat looks fantastic. Not a proven Nordy, but their sailboats have an excellent reputation for build quality. looks like there is a flybridge option, not sure if you spec'd smaller hp diesels would help range or not. maybe a bit of weight savings could be converted in increased fuel carriage. As some else suggested, with a water maker you could carry less water and more fuel. Mark, Thank you very much for your suggestion, yes i visited their site and heard kind words from an other listee who ordered hull # 6. Definately to keep in my folder as their reputation of quality seems well established. This listee told me that on its maiden "voyage" seas to a trawler show she encountered rough seas and behaved beyond the expectations of teh builder so said his wife. He also mentionned the new Volvo engines which production started in 2009 ans should be ready to be dropped in the boat by 2010 which fits perfectly his schedule. I have been a little out of the process having undergone open-heart surgery on July 1. You can see the launch photos at: http://cid-981a4ebf7ab5aaca.skydrive.live.com/browse.aspx/2009%20Constructio n/6%5E_09 Double-Wide is not exactly the same layout as the Pacific Expedition Yachts, but is quite similar. I'm enjoying following your travels which is likely how you missed my launch email.
