Interesting Ian. What kind of fuel consumption do you get with the D6
310's, and how noisy, smelly, are they?
tx.
gram.
Gram,
We get from memory I think around 50-60 litres/hr (total consumpt.) at
say 15 knots depending on bottom condition. We have the Volvo NMEA 2000
interface linked up to the Raymarine plotters and this is what this says.
Incidentally the NMEA link is great as you get then full engine
monitoring up on flybridge. Max range at this speed then with 1600 litres
of fuel something like 450 miles.
In terms of noise they are fine - in fact up on flybridge sometimes not
sure if they are running as there is very little vibration or noise. This
took me some time to get used to after my previous Princess 40' cruiser
when I could listen to engine revs when mooring up. No smells really
unless you are downwind of exhaust. Incidentally one thing that really
annoyed me with the Princess (Volvo KAD44's) with exhausts on the side of
the hull was the extensive black film that built up around both rear
quaters of the hull. With the Cumberlands transom outlets don't have any
black film at all. Guess the D6's run cleaner than KAD44's though that
probably helps as well.
Hope this helps.
Ian

QED News - Meeting Monitor (M2) system launch
We are pleased to announce the launch of the QED Meeting Monitor (M2)
system. This is an application that leverages the standard Lotus Notes
Resource Reservation system and enables real-time information for each
meeting room to be displayed on a colour coded LCD display outside each
room. This provides improved visibility of meeting room availability,
better usage of room resources and allows free rooms to be instantly
utilised for impromptu meetings.
With a low cost hardware requirement and use of standard network cabling
this is a simple installation that will quickly pay for itself. For a
brochure click on this link http://www.qedas.com/m2 or give us a call on
01934 836960 and ask for Peter Liddle or Ian Fisher.
