Rebecca Signing Off
After writing the Vuecrest newsletter since 2017, it’s time for me to make room for new faces and ideas. Mark and I have been part of the HOA process in one form or another since moving here in 2015. It has been a fun, enlightening, and interesting season. But since I’m not getting any younger, I need to wisely allocate my ever-shortening attention span. I’ll be taking on a leadership role for a new non-profit company and writing for a small family winery (both close-to-my-heart endeavors). I’ll miss talking to you once a month, but look forward to seeing you around the neighborhood. The lights go dim, there’s a theatrical pause and off I go. Who doesn’t love a little drama?! If you are interested in doing the Vuecrest newsletter, please contact directors@vuecrest.net mailto:directors@vuecrest.net.

Simulated Light Rail Service Starts Through Bellevue
It’s here. In preparation for the launch of the Eastside light rail starter line this spring, Sound Transit will start sending trains on regular practice runs every 10 to 15 minutes between the South Bellevue and Redmond Technology stations, starting this week.

Although most of the light rail line through Bellevue is separated from people walking, rolling and driving at street level, people should be especially aware of trains in BelRed, where there are four street crossings.

Sound Transit operators and maintenance staff have been training on the 2 Line (formerly called East Link) since November. Simulated service is another important step toward opening the 2 Line, which will connect Bellevue and Redmond on the Eastside to start and connect to Mercer Island and Seattle sometime next year at the earliest.

Vuecrest has its own Book Club and all residents are welcome to attend. We meet once a month at 7PM, usually on the first Monday, at various members’ homes. The VC Book Club has an “open-read” format, that is, there is no “chosen” book. We all gather to discuss what we had read since our last meeting. And for those too busy to read, feel free to come and enjoy the friendship and share a little wine and conversation with your neighbors. And you just might hear about a book you’d like to read in the future! Email Mara Pitkethly dtpit@uw.edu mailto:dtpit@uw.edu for details.
