My name is Brian Michael, I am not only the owner of this boat, but am also
the owner of Yacht Brokers Inc. I have just done the one thing I promised myself
I would never do, and that is to buy another boat before this one is sold. I
have recently reduced the price on this boat by $10,000 for a quick sale. This
is the only boat built to the Wittholtz design called "Dawn". She cost over
$100,000 to build in 1977, a bit pricey for that time. One look at the boat and
you can see and understand the value. I first saw this boat in the March 1977
issue of "Woodenboat" magazine. I felt that if I owned that boat and had $10,000
hidden in the bilge, I would be the luckiest man in the world. In 1988 while
taking a sabbatical from this business, I found the boat down a canal on the
east coast of Florida, I owned it the next day. A few years later I was back to
working 7 months a year and cruising for the other 5 months. I decided to move
up and traded the boat even up for a Hallberg Rassey Rasmus motorsailor. For the
last 20 years I always kept an eye out for the "Yankee Lady". A few years back I
found her in Mobile with an 80 year old owner and bought her sight unseen. I
think with a small bit of cosmetic work, this boat is ready to go back to the
islands, as she has so many times before.  If you are looking for an economical long range
cruiser, this is your boat! She was custom built to cruise and she is still
going strong. This boat has been to the Bahamas and back and is ready to go
again. She sails beautifully and the single 128 Hp 453 Detroit Diesel sips fuel
when the wind is not blowing. The 7.5 Kw Onan diesel generator provides power
away from the dock. She’s well rigged with cruising equipment: Radar, Autopilot,
Gimbaled propane stove with oven. She has a forward cabin with Double V berths,
the settee in the pilothouse can be used as a dinette or will convert into a
double bed. The aft end of the cabin is dedicated to the galley and a full size
head.
The hull is strip planked Cedar impregnated with epoxy. The hull has a
fresh coat of paint. The decks have a fresh application of non skid.
The
owner is looking to move this boat ASAP. Your offer could buy it. Call today to
see this boat.
