Ahoy All:

We left Dead Horse Bay (a friend sent this explanation: "...By the way, my father grew up in Brooklyn and told me that Dead Horse Bay got it's name because there was a glue factory there in the old days. Don't have to explain what they used to make the glue.") Monday morning, passed by Coney Island and entered NY Harbor by passing under the Verrazano Bridge.  It was almost high tide and we were able to "go with the flow" up the harbor, up the East River, through Hell Gate and into L.I. Sound almost to the Whitestone Bridge before the current turned against us.
Susie saw the Queensborough Bridge and Rikers Island Prison and was able to relate them to TV shows she likes
Near the U.N. Building, in the East River we had fast trawlers passing us, a tug and barge coming toward us, low-flying helicopters, and numerous sea planes taking off and landing.  All at the same time.  Kind of crowded and noisy.
Shady Lady docked in Glen Cove, off of Hempstead Harbor, early in the afternoon at Brewer Yacht Yard.  Today they'll take a look and give us an estimate for adding some electronic stuff to the boat.  When that's all completed we'll go east to the next harbor - Oyster Bay, and dock there for a few days.
