How about a few posts from listees who spent Thanksgiving ABOARD

I and a number of cruisers spent Thanksgiving "on board" in Vero Beach, FL.
Most of the boaters on the mooring balls, and some from the marina, had a pot
luck Thanksgiving dinner ashore. This year, it was held outdoors, since the
building traditionally used was damaged in the hurricanes, so it had the feel of
a Thanksgiving "picnic". Thank goodness the front with associated rain came
through in the morning, and the weather was really great for the gathering.

I would estimate 100-150 people were there, most with visions of Bahamian
palm trees and warm temps dancing in their heads.

Eileen Quinn gave a really enjoyable concert, singing her songs of the
cruising and boating life.

All in all, an excellent get-together, providing everyone with the chance to
renew acquaintances with cruisers met in the past, and to meet new folks
headed south.

Afterward, a few of us got together on "Moon River", Toby and Jo Ann Jarman's
Ocean Alexander 45 for another turkey dinner, drinks and camaraderie. John
and Janet Ferguson ("Arcadian"), Phil Rosch and Gwen off "Curmudgeon" and I
rounded out the group. A very enjoyable evening was had by all!!

Can't think of a better way to spend a holiday than being on board,
surrounded by friends, eating, drinking and conversing!
