To All -

Kudos to Lou Spitz and Dave & Denise DeVries for racing this weekend.
Contrary to the forecast, Saturday was not that uncomfortable on the water.
We had a strong west wind with cloud cover. Then the storm came and the Race
Committee later reported winds to 45 mph. By the time it hit we were under
bare poles heading for the mooring, but Dave & Denise had some excitement
with their jib furler. Lou was waiting for the 2nd race to start! On Sunday
we started in a good northerly that died on the second downwind leg.
Everyone was grateful for the two-hour time limit.

A note to all - the Guy Moulton perpetual trophy, given out at the July 4th
Regatta, goes to the winner of the largest fleet. This year the Lightnings
and Ensigns tied for the award (eight boats racing each) and the jury is
still out for who gets the trophy based on a complicated formula. Please
note that since the Cruising Fleet routinely has 20+ boats on the line every
Wednesday evening, I think the Cruising Fleet should make a concerted effort
next year to field at least 10 boats at the July 4th Regatta. Think about
it. There's more to racing than Wednesday evenings.
