GATOR NEWS AND UPDATES... YOUR CHANCE TO WIN PRIZES VALUED AT $500+, A
REQUEST FOR INPUT, AND A WORKOUTS UPDATE!
Following are a few updates on...
Our club workout calendar through the first weekend in January
Annual Members Meeting / Awards & Recognition Night (your input needed)
Club Workout Calendar:
• No SVY workouts through 1/3: As announced following the updated
Pennsylvania COVID-19 restrictions that have closed all Pennsylvania
fitness centers until Monday, January 4 at 8:00am, all club workouts at the
Y including Mon/Tues/Fri/Sun swims and Wed spins are canceled through
Sunday, January 3.
• No run workouts through December: We will not have any coached run
workouts for the rest of December as the next 3 Thursdays include our
member meeting, Christmas Eve, and New Year's Eve.
• Zwift is a go: We WILL conduct Tuesday evening (7pm) and Saturday morning
(8am) Zwift meetups during this period and events will be posted for each.
• More Zwift?: We are also considering adding 1-2 additional Zwift meetups
during the week (early morning and/or mid-day) and, if we do, we will
follow-up with additional details.
• What if I'm not a Zwifter?... For non-Zwifters (and Zwifters can also
participate), we will do a test session with a Zoom option during next
Saturday's Zwift workout, which will enable participation in a group
cycling workout without having Zwift (you will still need a bike trainer...
by the way, I have a couple of spare trainers that I can loan out during
this period if anyone would like to borrow one). The Zoom link will be
included in the "Event" invite when it is posted sometime in the next 2-3
days.
• Weekly workout survey/workout FB Events: With the reduced workout
offering and no SVY-based workouts, we will discontinue our weekly workout
survey, but Facebook "Events" will be posted for all planned Zwift/Zoom
cycling workouts.
• What about the GFC?... The final three weeks of the Gator Fitness
Challenge will proceed! Now that it is much more difficult to swim
(although there are still some options through our sponsor, French Creek
Racing, so contact John Kenny if you are interested), we are modifying the
SBR Challenge to essentially be a "BR Challenge" and it will include an
option to complete a minimum of 45 minutes of cycling (indoor or outdoor)
and a minimum of 45 minutes of running. If you are still able to swim, you
can still use the "30 minutes of each" option.
Annual Members Meeting / Awards & Recognition Night:
• What was that about $500+ in prizes? Thanks to our very generous club
lead sponsor, CentreFor HealingArts and Dr. Michael Connelly, we are able
to include some triathlon related "door prizes" in Thursday's meeting!
There are about 15 prizes. You must be present to win. Thanks, Mike!!
• What do we wear to a virtual members meeting? We'd like to capture the
moment "Brady Bunch-style", so please wear something Gators-oriented if you
have it... This could be a t-shirt, hat/visor, uniform top, etc. If you do
not have anything, we still have LOTS of 2020 member shirts that have not
been picked up, so you may still be able to get one before Thursday. And
if you are unable to get anything, just find your favorite green shirt/top
and go with it!
• We usually have a toast to the year at our Railroad Street Bar & Grille
gathering following the meeting... How are we going to do that this year?
We are going to continue this tradition! So be sure to have your favorite
beverage on ice and easily accessible and we'll end the night with a
virtual toast and perhaps a bit of conversation for anyone that would like
to stay past the 8:30pm scheduled meeting end time.
• Your input needed (and another way to win)! During the meeting, we'd
like to recognize outstanding achievements by our members. While there
were less this year than usual, you will be amazed by what we did
accomplish! While we do our best to track your accomplishments, it's
possible that we do not have everything logged, especially considering all
of the transition from real to virtual, etc. So... We'd like to ask you to
take 30 seconds (right now) to send a Messenger message to Don Mack with
your ONE endurance sports highlight for 2020 (and include a SINGLE photo
capturing the moment if you have one)! We will pick some of these entries
for inclusion in Thursday night's program. And anyone that provides input
will be entered into a special drawing on Thursday night for one of the
door prizes.
