Hi hawk watchers,

I'm considering going to Quaker Ridge in Greenwich on Friday and won't be
able to get there until about 11.  Does the weather look good for hawk
watching this Friday and is that too late to make the 1.5 hr drive worth
it?  Feel free to reply offline or if you think it's helpful generally in
the thread.  Thanks for any input.

Hi Rob,

I was there today. And although we didn’t have high overall numbers, we did have a nice variety of raptors. I’ve posted my eBird list if you care to check.

As of now, it’s probably too early to know whether Friday will be a good day. But generally, you want NE winds and some clouds to break up the blue sky. And every day can produce surprises.

If you’re a COA member, you can look at the current Bulletin, published just today by my wife Jo, which has some great information about getting ready for Hawk Migration Season.

I’d also add that there’s a new Hawk counter at Quaker Ridge this year named Ian Teall-Henderson who should be a great asset.
