This subject is very controversial in the dog community.  Some look at it
as using poison on your pet others view it as the main source of
prevention.  So I have been conflicted... Until my grand dog recently was
diagnosed with Lyme.  So,  thank you very much for your input! I will
check it out.

I think I can provide helpful information on tick prevention.  Me and my
Newfies live in South Washington County in Minnesota, which is notorious
for high incidences of Lyme Disease.  Having contracted a nasty case of
Lyme in my own back yard several years ago, I have paid a lot of attention
to tick prevention for my dogs.  The first medication I used was Frontline
and it worked well, but I did notice that my dogs were lethargic up to 24
hours after applying it.  Then my vet recommended Certifect, same type of
application as Frontline but supposed to work faster.  The dogs had bad
reactions to it, sluggishness, and terrible diarrhea for up to 2
days.  Certifect was taken off the market.  Now I use Nexgard, which is a
chewable tablet.  It comes in various sizes to treat dogs of all sizes.  It
really works well, no side effects and my dogs gobble them down like their
favorite treat.  Hope this helps.

Hi Chris,
I was hoping I could get some feedback regarding tick preventative for our
dog.  I've used frontline during tick season but am hearing that ticks are
becoming immune to that.  So many strong chemicals but hoping fellow newf
owners have some good advice.
Thanks
