It may not be the key switch because it did work before you replaced the battery.I suggest you check the electrical connections at the engine. Also check the throttle lever connection to the box on the engine. This gets stuck sometimes. Also check the start push button, it may have a loose connection. This might be worth a try and perhaps other members will give you more advice.
