Colleagues,

The Barbara Bush Foundation for Family Literacy has just updated its Literacy Gap Map with state-level data for all 50 states and snapshots for 22 cities. This excellent new resource comes to us just in time for International Literacy Day on September 8 and Adult Education and Family Literacy Week, Sept 21-26. Please see the attached press release for more information, and check out the links in the message below. Feel free to share this information widely!

Good morning!

Our http://map.barbarabush.org/ has been updated with new “snapshots” that provide state-level data on literacy and key quality of life indicators including health, education, and income. The new resources also include snapshots for 22 cities—including Atlanta, Chicago,
Los Angeles, New York, and Washington, D.C.—to illustrate low literacy’s impact on key metro areas.

You can find these new resources by visiting the http://map.barbarabush.org/ and clicking on the box that says, “What does adult literacy look like in your state?” You can also access them directly through http://map.barbarabush.org/state-cards/.

The attached press release, which was distributed earlier this morning, provides more details.

Please feel free to share this resource with your staff and partners.
