Seacock lubrication

It's my understanding that you should be careful what you use for lubricating your parts.
On the Groco there is a rubber bushing used.  It is apparently not good to use a petroleum based (solvent?) grease on this rubber.
You should use a silicone based grease, also known as plumbers grease?
That's my story and I'll try to stick to it!
