I made a few edits to the bug you filed for media handling, where the
record must be saved first before media can be uploaded. I know there are a
host of issues with the media handling UI, and we have set aside some time
later in the phase III schedule to fix them.
http://issues.collectionspace.org/browse/CSPACE-4819.
Reading back through the related bugs, it appears this change was made to
avoid "orphaning" blobs - if a user can upload a blob without saving the
record, then if the record is never saved the blob will still exist. It
can't be found by a normal user, and will just clog up storage.
Would an acceptable compromise for now be to see if we can go back to
auto-saving a record when media is uploaded, so that the second set of
clicks is not required?
Chris - and any others with interest - please let me know what you think,
Thanks,
Megan

Hi Megan,
Thanks for cleaning up those bug reports! Regarding

yes that would be great. I too dislike orphaned blobs (!) but we want the process of uploading images to be more streamlined.

Note that finding (and deleting, or reporting, or something) orphaned blobs
would be a fairly straightforward batch process, or report.
