Today, Dec-2, we had 4 COMMON REDPOLL feeding in a birch tree just across from a spruce grove on Milo Cove rd in West Hartland. They eventually flew up and were joined by a single CROSSBILL species which came out from the spruce grove heading south. Also within the spruce grove was a Barred Owl which we got within10 feet of. Very trusting Owl. Late at the Barkhamsted res, around 4:15, from seville dam scoping north, saw 4 BUFFLEHEAD close and a very far off raft of SCOTER which I believe were BLACK SCOTER from the pale cheeks shown by some, presumably females. It was getting dark and the count was estimated as 50 to 80 birds. Paul and Douglas Carrier
