East Tacoma Textiles
Elisheba Johnson & Kristen Ramirez
E. 64th Street (Pacific to McKinley)
East Tacoma Textiles brings episodic bursts of color, patterns excerpted from world textiles and the natural world, and poetry inspired by the people of this place to the new amenities of this corridor. The artists sandblasted poetry into granite pieces that once were the sidewalks of downtown Tacoma, created ceramic tiles from collages that are embedded in the new concrete, and custom-colored and stamped concrete with a stamp they designed. The work encourages the people of East Tacoma to walk and bike East 64th Street, connecting the words and images dotted along the way to their own relationship to the neighborhood where they work, live, and play.
Thanks,
Rebecca
