Greetings Dancing Queens!

I’m super excited for this next video because folks have some fun things
planned for it and the costume and theatric potential is off the charts.

For those who are local to the Tacoma/Seattle/Olympia area, I want to do
something a bit different this time and have a(safely distanced) group
“finale” loosely based on the dock scene in the movie Mama Mia. (and no, I
will not be jumping into 47 degree water in whatever crazy frock I decide
to wear)

I’ve created a short bit of choreography based on that scene from the
movie. I simplified it to remove the footwork, with the exception of the
step R , L, R, knee lift, R, L R knee lift, twirl as we run towards the
camera (which only really needs to be done by 2 or 3 of us with everyone
else just skipping along behind.

The rest of it is pretty much all arm. Anyone who’s ever performed group
dances knows that in most cases, the audience has no idea if you are on the
wrong foot or not the arms are all doing the same thing, and these moves
are big, all arms and are easy to follow. (yes, I’ll be up front leading it
so you can just “monkey see, monkey do” it.

My plan is to gather on the Ruston Way Waterfront at 3:00 PM on Saturday,
March 27th.  (safely distanced of course)

I’ll have the camera set up so we are skipping and dancing towards it (this
is where the knee lift twirl comes in)

Then we’ll do the simple short group choreo with the water in the
background. At the end of the choreo, we’ll jump in the air and run towards
and past the camera (I’ll then edit that part to slo-mo) and turn the
camera around so we are skipping and dancing away from it to end the video.
(OMG! Look out, they’re on the loose)

I put together a short teaching video so you’ll have an idea and can
practice a bit beforehand if you like.
