About our guest:
Carsten Weinmann, drummer born in 1980 in Wiesbaden ( Germany ).
Growing up in Jamaica and southern Spain he started playing drums at the age of 9. He was introduced to Jazz music by south african alto player Tony Connolly. Starting to play concerts with different bands In South Spain at the age of 14.
At 23 he moved to Toulouse ( south of France ) taking lessons at the conservatory of Toulouse and obtaining a Jazz degree a few years later. During that period he also obtained the 1er prix at the Parisian Drum School Dante Agostini . He's been teaching at for the Jazz program in Marciac since 2005. This is where he met the great Jazz drummer Ali Jackson in 2018 .
As a teachers he has worked for the Toulouse conservatory and currently teaches at Music’Halle, and the
jazz and world Music School from Toulouse.
Ever since moving to the south of France he has been playing and gigging on the local jazz scene and at the same time collaborating with more international artists such as Paolo Costa, a Brazilian composer and singer specialised in bossa nova and traditional northern Eastern
Brazilian music. He is part of the line up from Jésus Hernandez a Spanish flamenco jazz pianist when he tours around France. In 2019 he joined the Kareem Kandi World Orchestra for their tour in the south of France.
He is currently performing with the Dadef Quartet, Kamaleon, and the Andé Sutre trio .

Julian MacDonough is an award winning American jazz musician, studio drummer, and educator based in the Pacific NW. Since 1991, Julian has performed all over North American and Europe and is featured on over 150+ albums to date. He is honored to have toured with such notables as Jimmy Heath, Harold Mabern, Joey DeFranscesco, Terell Stafford, Peter Bernstein, Joe Magnarelli, Seamus Blake, Marcus Printup, Walter Banding Jr., and Dr. Lonnie Smith.
