After many years of playing in other people's boats, and not having
to deal with annual pre-launch issues myself, this spring I'm happily
faced with scraping a bottom, refreshing a boot top and applying
anti-fouling paint.
What recommendations do you have for me, especially in anti-fouling
paints for freshwater service and technique tips?

Georgs,
I am bottom painting a newly acquired Glacier Bay 2680 (one season use in
salt water) that will be transported to Lake Superior. I am using Awlgrip
paint #BP201G, Awlstar Gold label, which the Sales Manager of Awlgrip North
America informs me is legal for use in the Great Lakes but is not legally
for sale in Canada...a little confusing since northern Lake Superior is
obviously in Canada.

We use Interlux Ultra - a mere $209/gal fr Boaters World
(www.boatersland.com/int-ultrag.html). Highest rated antifouling in PowerBoat Reports a few
years ago. A bit pricey, but it works great for us - in water 12 mo/year,
FL/Bahamas winter, US Northeast summer.
