[CITASA] CIT(ASA) and Wikipedia

I have just learned that APS is getting quite involved with Wikipedia:
http://www.psychologicalscience.org/index.php/publications/observer/2010/december-10/anyone-can-edit-wikipedia-have-you.html

That came within hour of reading this article in Chronicle:
http://chronicle.com/article/Wikipedia-Comes-of-Age/125899
calling scholars to contribute to the project.

Those are hardly the first times a professional academic society is
commenting favorably on Wikipedia, or an academia-themed newspaper runs
a favorable article. They do show, however, a raising trend - but one,
it seems to me, that has avoided our little corner of the ivory tower (ASA).

Since I entered the world of sociology I've become quite involved in
both researching Wikipedia and teaching with it
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:School_and_university_projects).
I am also an active volunteer on Wikipedia, where in addition to my
involvement with the Schools and Universities Projects I maintain the
WikiProject Sociology
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:WikiProject_Sociology).

I'd love to use my expertise to help bridge the worlds of Wikipedia and
CIT(ASA), but I have to admit I have little experience with the
organizational/bureaucratic side of the ASA. A while ago I tried to
sound the waters for Wikipedia-themed session for our Annual Meeting,
but being a lowly grad student I unfortunately was not able to push the
idea far. I wonder if there are any other CITASA members who would like
to get involved in such endeavors, and who would perhaps have a better
idea of how to get started about them?

PS. Also, I'd certainly like to invite all of you to join WikiProject
Sociology. We are tentatively planning an informal get together of
Wikipedian sociologists at the ASA Annual Meeting
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:WikiProject_Sociology#Meetings_IRW).
