This Weekend and next week: • Friday, August 7 - Sunday, August 9: IRONMAN VR18... IRONMAN's Virtual Race Series moves into its final 4 weekends! This weekend's race is a sprint distance duathlon... Anyone up for the challenge? • Saturday, August 8: ◦ FCR River Day SwimFest/SwimRun (Norristown, PA): This French Creek Racing event is scheduled for tomorrow with the rain date being Sunday... I know that John Kenny has been closely monitoring the river situation and will provide a go/no go update, so stay tuned (check out French Creek Racing's Facebook group for the latest info)! If conditions are safe enough to swim, it's a great opportunity to get in an OWS with distance options of 1/2 mile, 1 mile, or 5k and you can even select the SwimRun option that starts with a 1/2 mile swim and ends with another 1/2 mile swim sandwiched around a 5k run! ◦ Motus Southern Indiana Duathlon (Versailles, IN): Club sponsor Don Morrison competes in his second of two live events over consecutive weekends! Can Don bring home the win as he did last week? Go Don! • Sunday, August 9: Steelman Endless Summer Swim OWS (Lake Nockamixon, PA): This sold out event, directed by club sponsor Steelman Racing and David Michener marks the return to racing for Steelman in 2020 (to be followed in September by the Off Road Endurance Festival and the Steelman Triathlon). Any Gators participating? • Monday, August 10 - Sunday, August 16: Trials of Miles Beat the Heat FINALS... Karen Dunn, as mentioned above, successfully reached the finals of this four stage event and will be competing against seven other top area runners in the 2k finals! Karen's run will take place sometime during the seven day period of this virtual track event. • Tuesday, August 11: FCR OWS Race #5 (Norristown, PA)... We're down to the final two events in this series that is put on by club sponsor French Creek Racing and John Kenny! I'm guessing there is a good chance that Chris Acosta is racing. Anyone else participating? Julie Mullaney? I may even see if I can figure out my schedule to make it work (which could mean the return of the "bike/swim/bike/run" workout)! Ongoing: • Atlantic City Virtual Triathlon (through August 21)... This event, put on by club sponsor DelMo Sports is a virtual version of this club event! Are any Gators participating in the virtual version? • Steelman Racing's Virtual Challenges (through August 31)... This set of events, offered by club sponsor Steelman Racing includes a "Race the State" challenge for adults that includes crossing the 350 miles of Pennsylvania in any self-powered way that you'd like over the course of 1-3 months and there is also a "Loop the Lake" challenge for children that involves completing the 20 mile circumference of Lake Nockamixon. Gators currently participating in various events continuing through August include Sheri Kuss, Sean Lodge, and Shawn O'Malley! • Great Summer 2020 Virtual Challenge (through Labor Day, September 7): This event, offered by club sponsor Scoogie Events and Scoogie Snyder, features a summer long challenge to virtually run/jog/walk and/or bike across Pennsylvania (350 miles) or from Doylestown to the Jersey Shore (Cape May; 135 miles)! Sheri Kuss is in for the "run to the Jersey Shore" challenge! • The Great Virtual Race Across Tennessee 1000K (through August 31): Ruth Subach is continuing to work her way across the state in the final month of the challenge!
