Gee, I'm not sure what happened to Mike's post. Looks like he tried
to post an attachment in HTML.
Mike, and everyone, please post messages in plain text, addressing
them to Power Catamaran List power-catamaran@lists.samurai.com.
Avoid fancy formatting, RTF and HTML as they cause problems somewhere
in the pipeline.
Here is the text of what Mike wanted to post:
My wife and I studied the layouts of all the major players making
catamarans in the U.S.,Europe,South Africa, and Australia. We have
always wanted a master suite you can get in and out of the berth from
both sides. Having previously being sailors we never liked the berths
where you climbed over each other or entered the bottom of the berth.
Our intent is to live on this boat for 8 months out of the year and
we wanted creature comforts. We visited two factories in the U.S..
and selected the Endeavour 44. Manta had too wide of a beam and
didn't have a berth for entering both sides. We believed the
construction of the Endeavour and Manta are very similar. Shouldn't
be surprised at this since Endeavour at one time built the Manta
catamarans. Judy said this is the boat after we visited Endeavour.
Endeavour offered a complete boat. Options were available but these
were few. The Endeavour 44 doesn't have balsa wood or marine plywood
as part of the construction. Loved the construction of an Endeavour.
Having the propellers protected in a tunnel was another plus. The
draft of 36 inches is also nice. The 4.5 gallons per hour at 8 knots
is a bonus over a standard mono hull trawler with twin engines.
Some of the Power Cats had a flying bridge with no steering below.
This is not good when you run into foul weather unexpectedly.
Price of the Endeavour 44 we also thought you got more value.
We would be glad to report on the Endeavour 44 as we do the Great
Circle Loop. We will be able to complete the Great Circle Route thru
the Erie Canal by having an air draft not exceeding 15ft. 3 inches.
We communicate with the owners of an Endeavour 44 named Peacekeeper.
They picked the boat up in March of 05 and have had no issues with
the boat on the way up to Michigan via the Intracoastal waterway and
thru the Welland Canal.
Regards,
Dan

Judy and I take delivery of a new Endeavour 44 Powercat about January 15th.
Mike and Cheryl, Dan and Judy, welcome to Power Catamaran List!
Would you please post the reasons that led you to select the
Endeavour 44? What other power catamarans were on your short-list and
why did you cross them off?

Re: Endeavour 44 TrawlerCat, was new memberWe are brand new to the List and saw this as the first post. We own a 2004 Endeavour TrawlerCat 44 which is our 2nd Endeavour - owned a TrawlerCat 36 for several years. When we thought about getting a larger boat, we took a look at what was available and quickly settled again on an Endeavour for the reasons Mike mentioned plus our very good experience with Endeavour and their willingness to build the 44 as we wanted it - in fact Mike Little's boat became our basic model with a number of changes from that. We live aboard about 6 months a year and have found it to be everything we expected.
