12/09/12 - Norfolk -- two female PINE GROSBEAKS in the ornamental
crabapple in the yard across the street from the south end of the town
green. Seen around 8:40 (by others), returned around 9:40, first
feeding in a dicedous (tuilp?) tree on the green and then in the
crabapple. Flew off around 10:10, into the trees in the backyard of
the same house.

Redpolls flocking in and feeding on alder catkins along the causeway.
With each passing car, the redpolls would kick up, swirl around, and
land in the same several alders to resume feeding. We watched them
for up to 15 minutes until they pushed off to the west. Salmon River
has recorded Common Redpoll in 7 of its 37 CBC years, with a high of
67 redpolls in 2007-08.
