Some pix of today's obliging Asian Mew Gull (colloquially known as Kamchatka Gull) can be seen here.

A great find by John Oshlik who got the word out quickly and allowed a few of us to have great views of this rare gull. Unlike the recent California Gull, this individual is quite bold and will come to food with Ring-billed's.
It was seen loafing with gulls and the rising and falling tide is the best time to look for gulls here when they gather to rest on the exposed flats.
A large individual, the darker grey-back like the California Gull, allows it to be picked out, but the bill is all yellow, lacking the dark black and red gonys pattern of the recent California Gull which may be still around.
Best,
Julian Hough
