As far as power trimarans are concerned, anyone has better studied the
http://www.nwbs.com.au/Yachts_Overview.html website. Of course it refers
to those huge boats, but most like the concept is there and could be
used for smaller ones.
The cost of fuel is surely a restraining factor. Has anyone made a study
on the total cost of ownership of a power cat versus a sailing one? The
cost of sail maintenance, cleaning, insurance, etc etc... When I think
of a sailing cat the headache of clening sails, fixing them, etc. kind
of offset the low noise and soft swing of them....
But those sailing cats (yapluka is lovely) with flybridge concept looks
a lot more interesting....
