Total observation time: 8 hours

Visitors:
We thank today's observers and those interested in the ongoing Hawk Count.
There were many more visitors than hawks today! Due to COVID-19
restrictions, access to the top level of Hawk Tower is limited to hawk
counters and qualified observers only. The 2nd and lower levels are open to
the public practising COVID-19 safe precautions (social distancing). Thank
you for your understanding and involvement.
Weather:
Weather was consistent throughout the day with partly cloudy skies,
temperature in the 20s to mid 20s and consistent westerly winds. Lack of
consistent northerly wind counts likely impacted the amount of available
raptors observed
Raptor Observations:
Rather slow day for raptors with only 4 sitings: 3 Northern Harriers and 1
American Kestrel. No buteos or accipiters reported. Resident raptors were
present throughout the day including resident Bald Eagles and resident
osprey.
Non-raptor Observations:
Day saw relatively large numbers of swallows (Purple Martins and Tree
Swallows), European Starlings, and resident marsh birds. Warbler and vireo
presence remains stable, with Blackpoll, Yellow, Cape may, and Nashville
warblers reported as well as Red-eye, Philadelphia, and Warbling Vireos.

Predictions:
Temperature and cloud level is expected to be the same as today's
conditions. Wind is expected to be north-westerly, hopefully bringing in a
stronger northerly component to promote raptor movements.
