I noticed the posting and photos by Stevan Hubbard regarding the American
bittern with an injured right leg.
Is it something that a wildlife rescue organization would attempt to help?

Can you provide details on location, how injured it appears to be etc.? I do transport for rehabbers and will when the opportunity is available capture/rescue the animal for transport. I can certainly reach out to see.

A friend and I saw an American Bittern yesterday (Saturday 1/21) around 11 along the Moraine Trail at Hammo - it flushed from the reeds half way down and flew towards the Boulder Pond. We noticed something trailing which we were told might have been the leg of a known injured bittern which has been seen in the Boulder Pond. We did not relocate it.

Monica, Saw him today. He's in Boulder pond at Hammonasset. He limps on the bad leg but he is able to catch plenty of food. He's been like this for many months now.

It is reassuring to hear that the bittern is catching food. Just sad that
it has this injury.
