Oil Change Pump

My old Groco oil change pump has finally given up the ghost after
several repair attempts by Groco. This pump is a bronze vane pump and
suffers from overheating. The replacement pump is gear driven. Looking
at Reverso I see that they make impeller pumps and gear driven pumps.
Orberdorfer makes a gear pump as well.

I suspect that the gear pumps work a lot better than the vane pumps. The
impeller pump would work but owners I have spoken with talk about
frequent impeller changes.

I have Detroits that hold a lot of oil so one of the 5 gallon bucket
ones will not work. I need a built in pump.

Any advice?

thanks
