Teachers FREE (with valid ID) at the Foss Waterway Seaport - May 24 - 10:30 AM to 2:00 PM
Please visit the Foss Waterway Seaport to view our new scuba exhibit. To enhance our underwater focus on May 24 from 10:30 AM to 2:00 PM, we are thrilled to have students from Peninsula School District at the Seaport to display their ROV (remotely operated underwater vehicle) built for the underwater robotics competition held on May 10 at King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way. Students placed fourth overall in their division in this year's competition. They also won an award for Best Team Spirit for their positive attitude and excellent teamwork.
Building ROV's engages students in STEM focused activities, encourages students to develop and apply technical, teamwork and problem solving skills. We are excited to have students available to share with teachers how they designed and build their ROV unit - problems, successes and what all goes into building an ROV. This is a great opportunity for teachers to learn more about the competition and ways to get students involved in this exciting STEM activity. Students will demonstrate how their ROV works from the Seaport's dock at 1:15 PM.
The Seaport offers both land- and boat-based education programs which highlight the history of our historic building, Puget Sound maritime history and marine and environmental science activities. For all visiting teachers on May 24, we invite you talk to our educators, learn about our programs, see our instructional touch tanks, our docks and board My Girl the boat we use for boat-based education programs.
