To Alan Hall,
Hi Alan. My name is Mike, and I am the guy that Geoff is building

the Cat 35 for here in Thailand.
I just couldn't resist answering your enthusiastic letter, as I am a
similar type of high-energy, enthusiastic person, especially when it comes
to boats!  (perhaps too much so hehe!!).
In any event, I just wanted to add my two cents worth, just to get
you even more hyped.
Although we are just starting the build of the Cat 35, I have
obviously been talking and dealing with Geoff a lot up to this point. I
actually spent about 6 months finding just the right guy to build my boat,
being a builder who I thought had the skills, but just as importantly,
someone who had the passion for the project, honesty, and someone with whom
it would be great fun. After all, this IS all about fun, so if you don't
have fun during the entire process, including building, why do it?
Up to this point, I can tell you Geoff has been all of the above. He
is even very tolerant of my lack of knowledge and the crazy questions and
ideas that come up as a result. I have learned so much thus far, (maybe
because I have so much to learn!!!) and we are just getting started.
I have even spent a few entire weekends at his offices working on
design/auto-cad etc, and it has been great fun!!!! (His wife makes an
awesome carrot cake for the busy boat guys too, not to mention making sure
we are kept in good supply of screwdrivers and other necessities, (and I
don't mean the hardware kind of screwdrivers!!! hehe!!!)).
Based on what you said in your list mail, you are right to want to
keep an eye on this whole process. My boat, as it is evolving, sounds like
it would be perfect for what you would be using it for.
Stay tuned for more Cat-tastic Breaking News, as I  am sure Geoff
will be happy to keep you in the loop.
Oh yeah, the boat design, basis Bruce Roberts brand new design, and
with the customizations Geoff is working with me on, sure looks like it is
going to be terrific!!!
There's my two cents, er two Baht worth!!!!!
Have a great day!
Mike

Hello Mr. Reid,

I read with interest your description of the 35 and went to the web site
you
provided. Nice!
What really got me going was the estimated price. I intend to follow this
boat as I am interested in one for me.
I boat on the inland rivers (mainly the Ohio) and I feel cats will be seen
more and more on our rivers because of their ability for shallow waters and
the
costs of operating a cat is much lower than a mono-hull of smaller size.
This is  a perfect boat for me. I am a diverr and cats are good blue water
boats
with  lots of room and I want to do the Great Loop soon and this would also
be
perfect  for that too.
Since rivers are notorious for debris in the water, would tunnels be
possible on a cat?
How much would diesel electric power plants add to the cost?
Would anyone know what a delivery charge would run to bring a 35 to the
states or to Mexico? I could bring her home to Warsaw Kentucky from there.
Sorry for all the questions but you just got my juices flowing.
I'm excited!

you can e-mail me off line at expoconosailor@aol.com

thank you and looking forward to your response
