Several simple solutions come to mind:

1 - AGLCA (greatloop.org) has Harbor Hosts everywhere - contact ahead of
time for suggestions/details - they are a valuable resource.
2 - Navigation Notes by Alan Lloyd (http://www.navigationnotes.com/)

Hope that helps you - planning ahead is the key... I've suggested a new
Wiki website (what is it? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wiki) with
calendar/place/event/site that everyone could add to - it would be a short
matter of time before it would become a wealth of information on where to
be to enjoy an event or tour a site... but so far the admins at various
sites have not moved ahead on such a simple website.
