CT Birders -
Once again, Allen‘s Meadows is the winner of the community garden harvest contest…congratulations to the Allen’s birders!!
No matter what place your hotspot landed, I hope birders enjoyed ‘patch birding’.  It helps you learn the best spots to bird within an area, allows you to tune into the pulse of birds through season changes, and encourages you to bird more intensively in search of something different.  And of course getting out more often and birding with a purpose also sharpens your ID skills!
My favorite bird this past week was an unusually cooperative Wilson’s Snipe which I found right in the middle of the community garden at Bauer Farm. Photos are on my checklist  https://ebird.org/checklist/S282204995
Please share any highlights of your experiences; your favorite bird, a patch first, anything unusual, or even notable misses may interest others in our community!
Good birding,

Hello Chuck,
Thank you for offering the Community Garden Harvest challenge again
this year and for tracking everyone's progress.  All the time you put
into this is greatly appreciated.  It is great fun and good seeing how
everyone else is doing.  Redding will never catch Allen's or Bauer but
it is still fun doing the best we can.  Maybe someday we'll have a few
surprises.  Many new birds are certainly possible, including Wilson's
Snipe and Vesper Sparrow!  Best bird for us this year was probably a
somewhat unexpected Black-throated Green Warbler.  It is a great spot
for a relatively wide range of Sparrows.  Thanks again!

Redding
