How many loopers took the Champlain route instead of Erie.

Greg,

Are you making a distinction here between US "Registered" and US
"Documented"?  Our boat is US "Documented" and  we had no issues with
any 15% tax in Canada when we did the "Triangle Loop" through Canada and
the St. Lawrence.

Wonder how many folks took off from the Hudson for the Montreal,
Ottawa route. I realize that for some their airdraft precludes that
route.

Interestingly, I passed 6 canadian boaters in lake Champlain, heading
south, who did not know the canal was closed. Two Nordic tugs at
Whitehall were apprised of the closing but they could not go through
the St Lawrence because they were US registered only and would have to
pay the 15% tax if brought into Canada. They decided to wait at
Whitehall where they at least had power.
