It is simply amazing how more complex our boating has become in 20 yrs. In
1984 we planned ahead to take on fuel at Bermuda, Horta, Gibraltor and well
known ports in the med. There never was a problem in getting fuel right at the
marinas or towns close by. Although we had credit cards we had enough "cash"
with us in case of refusal to use credit. By cash I mean American Express
travel checks. There was always a bank or currency house to exchange them. Now
if you are speaking of real outports where facilities may not be present I
would suggest a fuel plan to take on fuel at major ports and always maximize
your filling.( regardless of price). Do not assume there is fuel everywhere you
may land. If you have a passage maker you should be good for at least
2500-3000 miles. Regards. Leonard Stern, Indifference.
