Folks, I would like to offer the alternative of a manually activated switch for the shower sump.  Crackerjack has a gulper positive displacement pump for the shower sump and a manual switch that you turn on and off.  Very reliable and very effective, both the switch and the pump type. Seems like a better long term idea even if a bit more expensive.  It deals well with hair and other crud that gets into the shower and seldom needs any cleaning or service.
