Proposed Change in Height Limits near QFC

The Bellevue Downtown Livability Study group is considering a proposal to
change building height limits in downtown areas near Vuecrest. This is the
same group that gave a presentation at the 2013 Vuecrest annual meeting and
was mentioned in our August newsletter.

If approved, the proposed changes would increase the height limit of the QFC
and PDC (north of NE 10th) properties from 90' to as much as 300' and the
areas adjacent to 100th Avenue from 55' to 70' and 90' to 125' height. This
height increase could block views and impact the privacy of properties in
Vuecrest. On the other hand, it would allow for a variety of heights of
buildings, walkways, etc., avoiding the monolithic "wall effect" that you
can see on 12th Street near the Bellevue Library.

The proposals can be found at
http://www.bellevuewa.gov/pdf/PCD/Packet_Part_2_-_05-15-2014.pdf. There are
also comments and illustrations provided by the Fortin Group (owners of the
QFC and PDC properties) at
http://www.bellevuewa.gov/pdf/PCD/Fortin_Letter_5-16-2014.pdf

This proposal will be discussed this Wednesday, May 21st at 6:30pm in
Bellevue City Hall. There will also be an Open House On Tuesday June 3,
2014, 4:30-6:30 pm in City Hall, Room 1E-108. There will be opportunities
for public comment at both of these events.

Please note that this is only a proposal from the group; it has yet to be
approved as a recommendation. Further, the recommendation would need to be
enacted by a vote of the Bellevue City Council.

Coyote in Vuecrest

A few days ago, a neighbor spotted a coyote on Sunset, near our west
entrance, roaming our neighborhood. As always, those with pets should be
cautious when letting them outside, even during daylight hours.

Keep Vuecrest Beautiful!

Spring is a great time to get outside and spruce up your home with some
basic curb appeal ideas.

A simple solution to brighten up the entry to your home is power washing
walkways and driveways.  Take a look at your roof; could this important
structure use a cleaning too?  A fresh coat of paint can take any front door
from shabby to chic.

Even if your house is in tip-top shape, a scraggly yard can ruin the whole
effect.  It's never too late to tidy up your landscape or go for the
greenest lawn in the neighborhood.  There's value in curb appeal for
everyone!

Annual Egg Hunt

With over 70 neighbors participating, this year's egg hunt was a great
success. Thanks to everyone who volunteered to help organize, set up, and
clean up after the event. And a big thank you to the Kadavy and Wittman
families who shared their lawns to make this event possible.

Call for Volunteers
