Well, I was also including labor costs of a competent marine electrician.
I'm sure I could screw up it royally if I tried to install it myself. I may
be being a little heavy-handed in estimating the probable labor charges,
but I also know that no job is ever as straightforward as it initially appears.

Richard, the costs you mention seem very high.......my transformer for
60 amp shore power only cost me 600usd......and it has a 5% upgrade tap
on it also..wired 208 or 240 volts...maybe the actual wiring is you big
cost?? mine was a replacement for the original which had no tap on
it...never heard of any problems with effecting ones brains......except
boat owners may be bit strange anyway !!!!!!!! so it may improve the
situation !!
