51 Cultural Organizations Funded by Tacoma Creates for 2021-2022
TACOMA, Wash. -- The Tacoma Creates Advisory Board (TCAB) has approved Tacoma Creates funding contracts for the 2021-2022 funding cycle totaling approximately $4 million, which will go to 51 non-profit organizations whose primary purpose is to advance or preserve arts, culture, heritage, and science. These organizations' work includes a range of public programming for all ages, youth education programs, and a commitment to equitable and inclusive access for people throughout the City of Tacoma.
"These organizations represent such a range of important work: from celebrating diverse languages and cultures to caring for our common environment; from developing local artists to bringing world-class performances and exhibitions to our community - Tacoma Creates funding supports a vibrant Tacoma, and is creating more access for engagement in the cultural sector," said Davon White, Tacoma Creates Advisory Board Chair.
"Cultural organizations were deeply challenged this past year, but demonstrated resilience and creativity in serving the community," said Lisa Jaret, Tacoma Creates Manager. "As we head into the second year of Tacoma Creates funding, we look forward to the safe return of in-person programming, the continuation of successful online programming, and to more programs presented in partnership with Tacoma Public Schools and Tacoma Public Library."
