In light of the possible hurricane, the latest word from Canal Corp:
WATER LEVELS THROUGHOUT THE CANAL SYSTEM MAY CHANGE WITH LITTLE ADVANCE
NOTICE.
The Canal Corporation is closely monitoring Hurricane Sandy. The path of
the storm is still unpredictable and conditions may change rapidly. Water
levels in the Mohawk Valley are currently being drawn down to minimum
navigable levels.The Canal Corporation is planning to further reduce water
levels in the Mohawk Valley to below navigable levels beginning on
Saturday.Any vessels located between Locks E-8 and E-16 may become grounded
once this occurs. All mariners should consider removing their vessels from
the Canal in advance of the storm while the opportunity exists.
