Hi everyone. Below is information on our sessions for ASA2013. Start working on those great papers to submit for our sessions now!
One note: We will have a new feature in the roundtables session. We will devote as least one roundtable to a Works in Progress and Ideas format. What this means is that you don't necessarily need a full polished paper for submission to this particular roundtable. It is designed for individuals who have ideas that they are still formulating and polishing who would really like some good discussion and feedback from CITASA (and other) members.
CITASA Sessions for ASA 2013 (3 Sessions)
Is this an invited or open session: Open
Title of Session (15 words or less): Who’s Lonely Now? Examining the Impacts of Technology Use on Social Connections and Relationships
Description (250 words or less, optional): With the publication of Sherry Turkle's book, Alone Together, the debate over the impacts of technology use on social connections and relationships has escalated. While the media hype the extreme impacts of technology use on relationships, researchers try to understand how varying types and levels of technology use affect different aspects of social connections and relationships. We invite researchers who are theoretically and empirically advancing research in this area to submit their most advanced work to this session so that sociologists and the media can have a better understanding of 'Who's Lonely Now'.

Title of Session (15 words or less): CITASA Roundtables
Description (250 words or less, optional): If you're looking for a venue to present your work and get feedback from some of the leaders in the CITASA section, submit to the CITASA roundtables. NEW FOR ASA2013: One roundtable will be devoted to 'Works in Progress and Idea Formation'. To indicate your paper should be submitted to this new roundtable, note on your manuscript cover page: Works in Progress and Idea Formation Roundtable Submission. Papers for this roundtable do not have to be as fully developed as they do for other sessions and roundtables. Come with an idea or work in progress that you want to talk to others about and gain feedback. Papers will be grouped thematically and a leading CITASA section member will preside at each roundtable.
